Co-founder David Lapp describes the first event that marked the founding of Braver Angels, and organization that seeks to “… bring Americans together to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic.” The event was a weekend gathering of people from both sides of the partisan divide with the purpose to get people talking to each other and building a dialogue between these 2 seemingly intractable ideologies.

The authors of this illustrated book, Khaleel Mohommad, Professor, Moussa Serge Traore, Catholic Priest, and Leonard Swidler, Professor, will place this story in Iraq. It will follow the visit of Pope Francis to that country on a dialogue building mission to create peace, tolerance and unity between Catholics and Muslims there in March of 2021.

When we encounter another, “alien ego,” through dialogue we grow, expand and “pass over” to an even more complete world view and whole-ness, or holiness. Thus we become more complete and transformed. This transformation can then be shared with those who are “home” or community.

We are increasingly aware that our understanding of the world is not limited and static. We must realize that all of our “knowledge” is interpreted and that nobody knows everything about anything. Therefore, dialogue is the path to building a bridge toward peace and understanding of others.
